Who Says Shortwave Radio is Dead?

Dear Global 24 Listeners,

Thank you for a remarkable 12 hours.

Over 2,500 of you (confirmed unique) visited our website in just a few short hours last night and thousands more have visited the website since then.

A big thank you to the over 500 reception reports we have received so far. More are coming in every minute and we are very grateful for all of them. Please keep them coming. We are very interested in reports from the US West Coast as we plan any possible configuration changes. However, we still need reports from everywhere - so please send them to qsls@global24radio.com or fill out the web form here.

We are also experiencing some technical difficulties with the internet. We are currently having issues moving the massive amount of programs from our producers to our transmitter via FTP connections. These slow internet connections are preventing us right now from getting new programs loaded for on-the-air broadcasts. Bear with us as we get this working correctly this weekend. In the near term, you may hear a few more program repeats that we had planned.

It should also be noted that these same bandwith challenges are preventing us from posting content on the website. We will have this sorted shortly as fast as possible.

Again, thank you very much from all of us for your feedback, questions and comments. We value your support tremendously.

Sincerely,

The Global 24 Team

Veteran Broadcaster Raoul van Hall Joins Global 24 Lineup

(Hollywood, FL) October 30, 2014 - Global 24 News announced today that host Raoul van Hall has joined the Global 24 team to captain two great new programs.

Born and raised in Amsterdam, Raoul van Hall is a forty-year veteran broadcaster. During that time, Raoul has been a Program Director, Operations Manager and Air Talent at dozens of radio stations. Raoul also hosts jazz and classic rock shows in China, Oman, Bahrain, Singapore, Taiwan and in Japan.

“Broadcasting on shortwave radio, has been a life long dream of mine.” “I’m VERY excited about this opportunity to become a part of a truly unique, worldwide broadcasting service, Global 24!” says Raoul.

Raoul will be hosting two shows on Global 24:

Jazz From the Left is a program that celebrates America’s unique cultural export…jazz. Focusing on the cool and West Coast jazz sounds, artists featured include: Dave Brubeck, Paul Desmond, Art Pepper, the Modern Jazz Quartet, Vince Guaraldi, Gerry Mulligan, Stan Getz, Red Garland and Miles Davis. The mix is not too heavy and not too light. Just right for cooling out with some great jazz.

The Rockpile is a classic rock show with a twist. Here you’ll hear all of your classic rock favourites, plus
rare alternate takes and remixes that you won’t find anywhere else. You’ll hear The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, the Doors, BTO, the Rolling Stones and many others. PLus some of the rare lesser known groups of the era. Occasionally, you’ll hear audios from the era, that provide context for the music you’ll hear.
