About World of Radio and Host Glenn Hauser

Glenn Hauser has been a multi-band DXer and shortwave listener from his childhood,
starting with MW & TV DXing in New Mexico in 1953, shortwave DXing in Oklahoma from
1957, leading to his first SW QSL from CFRX, Toronto, 6070. He was also very active
in TV DXing, collecting numerous QSL letters and cards, and taking DX photos off the
screen.

Beyond just accumulating station logs, he developed an interest in programming,
leading to publishing the magazine Review of International Broadcasting, later
joined by DX Listening Digest. With the internet age these were eventually
consolidated into DXLD online, a weekly compilation of primarily shortwave DX,
station and programming news, and to a very active DXLD yahoogroup.

Collecting all this material from numerous hobby and professional sources provides
input for his half-hour program, WORLD OF RADIO, now surpassing 1,745 weekly
editions since its inception in 1982 on WRNO. After that it has aired on many other
American SW stations, averaging four or five different ones at any time.

While earning his degree in broadcast journalism at the University of New Mexico, he
contributed hometown news reports to AFRTS, and during USAF service spent a year in
Thailand with the American Forces Thailand Network.

He`s also a great aficionado of classical music, and in the real world worked as an
announcer and programmer on classical and public radio stations KHFM, KOSU, WILL,
WUOT, before `retiring` to devote full time to shortwave media.

From junior high school, he developed an interest in foreign languages, shortwave
helping him to learn Spanish, Portuguese, and others to a lesser extent.

Glenn also has vocally contributed shortwave DX and programming info to programs on
a number of other SW stations through the years, including Radio Netherlands, Radio
Canada International, Austrian Radio, Radio Sweden, Voice of America, in English as
well as Spanish. And currently a propagation report for Media Network Plus on PCJ
Radio International.

Glenn dedicates himself to disseminating information primarily about shortwave as
quickly as possible, and without restriction. Everything is available via the
