Great to see a broadcaster go 24/7 on the same frequency! This will be a positive step to revitalize short wave listening.

Well it’s about time! HF Boadcasting all but extinct for the last decade plus. With VOA languishing, this is very welcome “news”.

  3. chris

    terrific news!

  4. Tom Harris

    congrats!
I noticed a LACK of SW programming compared to even just a few years ago.
Not everyone wants everything over the net, I enjoy using hot bottles and actually tuning a receiver.
    Good luck!

  5. Broadwing

This is really great news. I am hoping to hear fresh news and programming from your station. Shortwave lives!

  6. Jimmie Cason WB5UAS

  7. Wes

Got my start in radio in the 1960’s, listening to SW broadcasts on an old salvaged RCA set. I still have the QSL cards I received! A great service to the world, and listening is a great hobby.

  8. David Knapp

I look forward to listening to WRMI live!

Looking forward to listening SW. Used to be a favorite pastime in my youth in Rangoon, Burma. My dad was a Ham XZ2KN and I also got licensed almost 50 years ago and hold the call W6BUX.

  11. W7PAT

This is great news and I look forward to listening.

This is great news indeed. I am a licensed radio amateur and a long time SWL’er since 1974. Norway, where I am from, has as many others stupidly abonded shortwave. So when I’m travelling, I have no longer a news link to my home country. The Norwegian governmental driven broadcaster NRK, did as many others broadcasterts do, closed down because “everybody” has internet thes days so we don’t need shortwave anylonger. Well, say that to the tribes in the jungle or the the people living in deserts. I am sure they all will “agree” with these smarties. In Thailand where my family and I most often travels to, we do NOT have internet, so shortwave is the only way for me to get news in English. So I welcome this the Global24, both for making my hobby better and also for hopefully being a new source for news when we are abroad.

    Great News !!!

This is a breathe of fresh air in a stagnant radio band where SW broadcasters once ruled. I will be tuning in.

  18. Danny Jimenez

I look forward to listening to your station. I use a Grundig Satellit 700. I have had it for many years and it sill works very well. I am mainly on the Internet now, but am excited to listen to SW broadcasts again. One of the first stations I remember listening to was the old Radio Berlin International, from the former East Germany. After hearing that station 9730 I was hooked! But as time elapsed and computer took over, I admit I lost interest. So I hope this sparks my interest again.

  27. Bill (KA8ZYZ)

I started listening to the shortwave bands when I saw a friend father turn on and tune in several SW stations in Europe. Saved my money and bought a Realistic DX60. While in the Army I got a DX160 and took it with me when I transferred to Germany. I believe I enjoy it more now that my dusty Ham equipment. It will be great to have a 24/7 station on the air.

  28. Mark MW1MDH

Excited to hear of a new station on Shortwave, hope this renews interest in shortwave worldwide, good luck and 73!

  30. Andre Bagley

I salute WRMI’s Jeff White for his innovative and forward thinking management that has made WRMI a serious international broadcaster. Honestly the main reason the SW community is so anxious for Global24 to go on air, is the fact that they are refusing to carry Evangelical programing. If Global24 can maintain a large and dedicated audience, they can be a commercial success. I think the idea of rewarding listeners for tuning in and paying attention to the programing is smart. It just leaves me wondering why other international broadcaster do not have such a reward system for their listeners.

  31. Prakash

So, is it 1900 EDT/7:00PM EDT (2300 UTC) or 2000 EDT/8:00PM EDT which is 0000 UTC?

    • admin

We are starting at 7:00pm EST or 2300 UTC. Some information we put out earlier indicated 7pm/0000 UTC in error

  42. NT4K - JC

  43. John Marranca Jr KB2HSH

Can’t wait! This is as exciting as the days prior to my ham license when I’d “discover” a new SW station! Looking forward to it very much!

  44. Joe KJ9M

Congratulations on diving into the Short Wave commercial market. Like most ham operators, I cut my “radio teeth” in the 60’s as an SWL with the PE ID WPE9GM. Short wave radio is a tried and true broadcast medium open to virtually anyone in the world. While the Internet is good for what it is, nothing can compare to the reach of HF radio around the world. With good marketing, global advertisers and programming that includes shows about amateur radio and shortwave listening, unfiltered and objective news, lively interviews and entertainment that educates and informs, we look to WRMI to become the innovative leader in SW broadcasting this century. Putting your press release on our club meeting agenda. Will be looking forward to your terrific QSL card when we send a reception report. Good luck and 73.

  45. JR

I’ll definitely try to pick your programs up. Greetings and best wishes from Germany.

  49. Marco VANZETTI

Let this be the beginning of the Global Village!!

  50. Mike

Thank you! This is great news. The same frequency makes it a lot easier than moving about the dial. I just put a SW receiver in my car and will be listening often,

  51. Dale

Great signal. Enjoying your content. Much success.
Running 52 dB above my noise floor in western NC. Listening on a 30M vertical.

      The G24 Team

  52. ParkaLars

Thanks for reception like lokal radio. Hope for many more occations to tune to Global24.

  53. Scott

I’m only about 60 miles or so away from Okeechobee, and having trouble hearing it on the portable, must be too close. Will try fiddling with a wire antenna. I can hear it, but signal not too strong so far.

  54. Jon. N

Hello,. Are you still there? Your signal isn’t coming through to Europe at all at this time. I tried to tune my receiver during the day (I know, not the best time) and there was nothing, there was only interference from another station.

And I said Europe, because I used this online receiver: http://websdr.ewi.utwente.nl:8901/

to check if you’re there, but nope, only one station at 9400 khz (according to online lists it’s radio Denge Kurdistana, not what I want.).

I should be able to hear you all day, even if that frequency isn’t good for daytime reception. So, I hope you will improve your transmitter, and I don’t know if you’re even there because I can’t receive it!

But with all of that said, I hope you good luck!

  55. Jonathan Kempster, London UK

This is great news! I wish you every success.

  56. Broadwing

I think that if you are having any negative comments they should be published also especially about programming. I thought that is the purpose of the section, to find out what people would and would not like to hear? It seems you can be civil and still have an opinion that could and should be published or are we going to have PC Police on us as always?

    • admin

We have filtered exactly one comment on Facebook and one comment here on the site so far. Feel free to post whatever you would like - we will publish it. The one comment on Facebook we filtered was purely by accident.

Thanks for the feedback. Trust us…No PC police here.

  57. Scott

Just an FYI, as someone mentioned here already, the Dutch SDR you guys have a link to for live listening isn’t going to work very well, unfortunately. There is a strong station on 9300 and 9400 which wipes you guys right out. Still trying to find a remote SDR that can hear you, but nothing so far, and the live stream has been down.

    • admin

Yes, We need to find another SDR - one here in the US. Find a good one and we’ll send you a Global 24 mug!

      • Scott

Looks like the ones here in the states that support multiple users don’t cover 9395. Will have to keep digging!

      • Scott

Well, 9395 coming in fairly well on the Dutch SDR, about 2030 GMT. Looks like those two stations have signed off.! Not bad at all!

        • Scott

Spoke too soon, Radio Thailand has come back up on 9390 again, wiping out 9395.

          • admin

            Scott,

Thanks.. send us your address and we will send you a mug….send it to mailbag@global24radio.com

Let’s find those SDR receivers together…

    • Scott

Correction: That should read, a station on 9390 and 9400!

  58. Jon. N

Yeah, too soon indeed. Maybe change to a frequency where there’s not much interference (for us Europeans)? There’s plenty of empty spots on the shortwave bands, just pick one!

But when there’s not interference it’s pretty good, but only during the eaving. It’s very annoying having to fight interference! And my Sony portable receiver doesn’t even have a bandwidth switch!

  59. zl4kd

Good to have another SW station on air. I can hear you down under in New Zealand, not that strong during daylight hours. I should get better reception soon with a new antenna shortly. 0700gmt
radiodx.com posted your arrival on its home page.

  60. José Socorro S. Maranhão

  61. David

Yeah! Global 24 Radio! listened to your signal last night (Nov 06, 2014 ) at 10:30 PM EST with my HQ-180A GLASS radio!. Good signal here in coastal Rhode Island. Big fan of ‘Jazz From the Left’, too. Thank you for bringing something ‘NEW’ to the airwaves.

  62. TP Reitzel

You don’t want to hear my reply… so please keep such inflammatory rhetoric to yourself.

  63. admin

TP, Thank you for keeping it civil.
